Interested in exploring horror movie icons in the style Art Deco, I created this illustration of Stephen King's character, Pennywise the Clown. My goal was to explore simple shapes and how to utilize symmetry, geometry, and block shadowing to create a fun and creepy design that captures the essence of King's character.
"Death by Scrabble" is a short story written by Charlie Fish about an intense game of scrabble between a husband and his wife. Throughout the story, the husband is dreadfully hating his wife for making him play this awful game on a Sunday afternoon. After discovering that his words are coincidentally coming true, he sets out on a mission to kill his wife. The story takes a dramatic turn when Karma comes after him.
"Together in Uterine" is a collaboration piece between me and the artwork of Milton Glaser. Before Milton passed away in 2020, he was working on the "Together" typeface to communicate the impact Coronavirus is having on a community of people. Each letter is from a different font to symbolize various people and how we are all going through the same issue. His message was so beautifully communicated that I wanted to see how I could utilize his typeface to tell the narration of a different community.
In 2022, Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court leaving the right to an abortion up to the individual states. This decision has negatively impacted my community; thousands of people have gathered around the world to fight for the rights of uterus owners. This poster symbolizes that fight through the linking of the fallopian tubes to represent "linked arms" as people continue to come together to march for change. The watercolor texture was added to represent "bleeding" since this overturn has left a huge wound on my community. The "deteriorated" uterus symbolizes an individual who was in need of abortion care, but now has restricted access to one. While the solid uterus symbolizes individuals who don't currently need an abortion but are still impacted by the decision made.
