As we have seen throughout our lifetime, women continue to be portrayed as domestic providers who are dependent on men and are essentially sex objects in the advertising industry. Therefore, I was fascinated to see how I could take vintage advertisements and reverse the stereotypical gender roles that continue to be used in today’s society. I wanted to portray men in a female role and/or in a female subjective manner to show how advertisements are solidified in belittling women in advertisements, which ultimately influences the way women are treated in today’s society.
